TYRES WASTE MANAGEMENT

Tire waste management refers to the process of collecting, recycling, and disposing of used or end-of-life tires in an environmentally responsible manner. Managing tire waste is important as improperly disposed of tires can cause environmental pollution and health hazards. Here are some common methods used for tire waste management: Recycling: Tires can be recycled into products such as playground surfaces, athletic tracks, and rubberized asphalt. The recycling process involves shredding the tires into small pieces and then separating and refining the rubber, steel, and fiber components. Energy Recovery: Tires can be used as a fuel source in cement kilns or other industrial processes that require high heat. The process, known as tire-derived fuel (TDF), can generate energy while reducing the use of fossil fuels. Landfilling: Tires can be disposed of in landfills designed specifically for tire waste. However, this method is not environmentally friendly as tires take a long time to degrade and can pose a fire risk. Pyrolysis: This is a process where tires are heated in the absence of oxygen to produce oil, gas, and char. The oil and gas can be used as fuels, while the char can be used as a soil amendment. Proper tire waste management requires the cooperation of governments, tire manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. Laws and regulations should be established and enforced to ensure that tire waste is managed responsibly, and consumers should be encouraged to recycle or dispose of tires properly.
